Job Title: Bicycle Mechanic/Service Department

Located between Leslieville and the Beaches, Velotique sells and repairs bicycles, skis, and gear for both. We are hiring a bicycle mechanic to join the Velotique service department. Our team currently consists of 3 full-time senior mechanics. We are looking to add up to 3 junior mechanics by spring 2017. The position is seasonal (full-time hours from April-October) and requires a base knowledge of bicycle parts, tools, and maintenance. Our interview process is equivalent to a one week full-time placement or training at $14/hour with the possibility of wage increase upon hiring and depending on experience. Bicycle assembly, maintenance, and repair expertise are important starting points, but we are more interested in an individual who will mesh well with the rest of the staff and who is willing to learn through practice, training from the other mechanics, and from the experience gained working here.

Job Responsibilities

  • Knowledge of bicycle parts and tools
  • Assemble new bicycles and install accessories
  • Assess customer needs
  • Intake of repairs and tune-ups
  • Maintain and repair customer's bikes
  • Maintain a respectful work environment
  • Maintain a clean and organized work bench and service department

Job Qualifications

  • Accredited bicycle mechanic training certificate or at least 2 years experience
  • Must be able to work weekends and three weekdays April-October
  • Able to work in a fast paced environment without compromising repair quality
  • Friendly and approachable
  • Retail or customer service is an asset
  • Able to work well with others as well as independently
  • Experience in urban cycling
